Psychiatry & Addiction Medicine in Red Bank, NJ

One doctor. One relationship.

Treatment for both mental health and addiction.

Most people managing both a mental health condition and substance dependence are told these are separate problems requiring separate doctors. They're not. The brain is one organ. Your psychiatrist should be able to treat all of it.

Dr. Abir Marcus, MD, FAPA — Board-certified in both psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. More than 25 years in practice. Accepting most major insurance including Blue Cross, Aetna, United Healthcare, and TRICARE.

"The art of psychotherapy. The science of psychopharmacology."

What Makes This Practice Different

Dual Board Certification in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine

Depression and drinking often go together. So do anxiety and benzodiazepine dependence. PTSD and opioid use. At Brain Mind Harmony, you don't need to see one doctor for your depression and another for your addiction. Dr. Marcus is board-certified in both.

Mental Health

Psychiatric Treatment

Comprehensive evaluation and treatment for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, and other psychiatric conditions. We combine psychotherapy with medication management when clinically indicated—not as a shortcut, but as part of a complete treatment approach.

Addiction

Addiction Medicine

Evidence-based treatment for alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine, cocaine, and other substance use disorders. Suboxone, Sublocade, and Vivitrol available. Addiction is a medical condition—not a moral failing—and responds to medical treatment. We can help.

Treatment Philosophy

Combining the Art and Science of Psychiatry

We believe in combining the art of psychotherapy and the science of psychopharmacology. Through the use of different medications aiming at normalizing the brain chemistry and the exploration of the unconscious, cognition and relationships, we help our patients achieve harmony in their lives.

This means we don't just prescribe medication. We also don't rely solely on talk therapy when medication could help. We assess each person individually and develop a treatment plan that addresses their specific situation—using whatever combination of approaches will be most effective.

What Treatment May Include

  • Medication management — When brain chemistry needs correction, the right medication can make other treatments possible
  • Psychodynamic therapy — Understanding the unconscious patterns that drive behavior
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy — Practical techniques for managing symptoms and changing unhelpful thought patterns
  • Medication-assisted treatment — For addiction, medications like Suboxone, Sublocade, or Vivitrol can be essential to recovery
  • Integrated care — If you have both a mental health condition and addiction, we treat them together, not separately
